We all know that hops are damn delicious in beer, but our appreciation for the little cone should extend far beyond just this beverage - hops are an incredible flower with a multitude of antiseptic and calming properties that reach past beer alone.
The idea behind these products emerged as a way to recycle hops that were used in the brewing process, and eventually morphed into a full-fledged project to create a hop product that could be appreciated by all. The resulting items are designed to accentuate the marvelous properties of some favorite varieties, while simultaneously matching scents with complementary natural fragrances such as cedar, bergamot, and pine. Enjoy!
Why Hops?
- Hop flowers have antiseptic properties, which is why there were historically added to beer - not only do they create an intense fruity, herbal, and bitter flavor, but they also prevent the beer from spoiling. This property translates beautifully to bath products - the hops in our products naturally fight bacteria, help cure blemishes and ingrown hairs, and soften rough skin
- Hops are medicinally used as a sleeping aid - although the hop scents in our line of products is fairly mild, they do release calming oils that are relaxing and perfect for a soothing bath or shower
- Hops smell great and aren't just meant for drinking - the aroma of a freshly poured IPA is pretty hard to beat, and we want to bring that experience to your shower, to your hand-washing, and to your daily routine. Even if you're not a big beer drinker, the aroma is a unique and natural twist on chemically scented bath products found in the local supermarket. Little Hop Shop products have fragrances ranging from fruit, to pine, to herbal - and will complement any shower or bathroom. If you're not sure what sort of hop you're into, check out the fragrance chart at the bottom of the page!
- Hops pair perfectly with other scents - there are over 50 different types of hop varietals, and each has a unique and powerful aroma and flavor. Many beer related products on the market today list "hop flower" in the ingredients, but few companies are actually focusing on the myriad of different types of cones. Luckily for you, we've decided to change that - we take popular hops, and design products to accentuate the unique and fabulous aromas - ie. by pairing Lavender with the herbal notes of Willamette, or Bergamot with the citrus characteristics of Summit. Have a favorite varietal that isn't listed in our products? Let us know, and we'll design a custom scent.
Cheers,
The Little Hop Shop
